Workshops

Four workshops will be organized around the great themes of the digital solidarity: Universal connectivity, eHealth, eEducation, Reuse and Recycling. The work will be conducted exclusively in English.

Universal connectivity

Connectivity is the ability of a system or a network to link up with other machine systems or networks. Often associated with notions of accessibility and opening areas up to the outside world, the question of connectivity has become a crucial issue for towns or regions, especially those which are isolated or geographically closed in.

eHealth

Thanks to telecommunications networks (telephones, internet, dedicated lines, satellites, etc.) doctors can now exchange information, make consultations and interpret medical imagery at a distance. This new technique enables distances to be done away with, and long trips and stays in hospitals to be avoided.

eEducation

Use of information and communication technologies in teaching is one of the foundation stones of the digital revolution that is taking place in the present century. In this respect, schools must continue to play their educational roles by taking account of the fundamental changes in society and making access keys to universal knowledge available to both teachers and pupils. Digital education is now an integral part of populations’ digital culture.

Reuse and Recycling

Over the last few years, sending second-hand computer equipment to developing countries has been developing very considerably, in a non-organised, non-concentrated way without complying with environmental standards. According to the Gartner studies institute, we have just gone over the level of possessing one billion PCs in activity on our planet.
